Temurun Waterfall: The Hidden Gem in Langkawi

Langkawi Island is famously known for its beautiful beaches and happening nightlife. However, a lot of people are unaware that this mystical island can offer more than just beaches and bars – Waterfalls! So, nature lovers, keep on reading and take a look at the beauty that we managed to capture while we were there!

Temurun Waterfall is a three-tier waterfall that can be located in Datai Bay area. If you are staying around Cenang, you will surely need at least a motorcycle to get to this waterfall but don’t fret as the view along the way is just as pleasing. Once you have arrived to the parking lot, there will be a 5-minute walk to the base of the waterfall. However, be careful of the monkeys around the area. Do not feed them as they can get aggressive easily.

Temurun Waterfall is the tallest waterfall in Langkawi and the cumulative drop of the falls is about 200 meters. You can already witness the waterfall from the first tier but the view is better once you climb up to the upper tier. The steps towards the upper tier is quite steep so be careful!

You’ll definitely feel like you’re in a whole different world once you reached the top tier! The water is crystal clean and the greenish colour makes it more magical but do keep an eye of your bags and belongings because the Macaque monkeys there are famous for stealing stuff! So mischievous!

You can straight away get in the cold and fresh water while enjoying the beautiful view of the mother nature. The whole place is surrounded by trees which makes it looks like a hidden gem. While you are enjoying your swim, don’t forget to look up the sky sometimes as you might see the eagles circling around the bright blue sky.

Temurun Waterfall is undeniably beautiful and clean. You can also have a picnic with your family and friends here as there are gazebos built around the area as well. However, you will have to plan your visit first before heading to the waterfall. If you want to experience the full beauty of the falls, do not come during the dry season as there won’t be a lot of water flowing down the sandstone. So, it is better for you to plan your visit during wet season which is from July to October.
